Post Operative Rehab

Post Operative Rehab

So you have had surgery...

You may have recently had surgery which requires physiotherapy in order to regain full function. Your surgeon will have skillfully performed the surgery, but this is only the initial step in your return to normal. Post-orthopaedic surgery, you will almost always require some form of exercise therapy to help mobilise and strengthen the area affected. This is where an assessment and treatment plan formulated by an experienced physiotherapist can result in the quickest and safest return to your normal daily activities.

It is normal that you will require physiotherapy within the first 2 weeks post operatively. In some cases you may require up to 6 to 9 months of rehabilitation in order to regain strength and mobility. This will depend on the type of surgery that has been undertaken, and the healing time of the affected tissues.

At Roslyn Physio, we have established an excellent relationship with local orthopaedic surgeons, and our outcomes for post-surgical rehabilitation are excellent.
